Loomis Books

Here is a link to the fantastic and must have drawing books by Andrew Loomis. These are fantastic drawing books and as a set maybe the best ever done and invaluable to animators, cartoonist, illustrators and painters. They were my bibles as a young artists and still are great 60 years after some went into print. You can get hard copies now from Amazon, which I recommend, they have been out of print since the late 60's. These books are so chock-full of drawing lessons you'll need to grow and survive as a working artist in the animation biz or an artist who draws for a living. I spent years as a young artist hunting these down and paying high prices for some of these books.

USB Light up!

This is one of the strangest ads in a long time, wonder what kind of cigarettes they are lighting up?

Homework Assignment 1: Going To Work Animatic

The student will create a short storyboard using the ideas and terms discussed in the first class to make a short animatic on Going To Work. This can be really how you go to work or imaginary. Its should be entertaining no matter what. After boarding shoot an animatic and time it. Save it as a low rez, small quicktime file. Bring all of this to class next week.

Use the animation board master provided to copy for your board.

• Remember if you don't show it, we don't know it
• Shot choise is critical!!!
• Composition is critical, remember the eye line and the rule of "thirds"!
• Is this the best way, the most entertaining way to show us whats going on?
• Write the description legibly
• Draw clearly and cleanly, use a sharp pencil
• Feel the sense of time in your own body, how long a scene is on the screen is vitally important.
